New profile pictures and updated bio's for the Blackberry, Periwinkle, Mulberry, Chocolate, Chiffon and Fielding Families

Herewith part 2 of the profile picture and bio's update.

This week I got such a huge compliment from someone on the Sylvanian Forum. To quote her/him "There is so much love inside your blog. I like it so very much!" It was in that very moment that I realised it was the absolute truth. I like to share my collection with others, but I'm mainly doing it for myself and, yes! because I love it. So if I get one or 15 comments on a post it doesn't matter. Just having it around and seeing them everyday is enough for me.

So lets start

The Blackberry Family
(old picture)

The Blackberries are a family of 5 and lives in their old vintage gypsy caravan. Both Bob and Better are relieved that they have all their children under one roof again, and Yvette enjoys being with her family. She and Ingrid has allot of fun confusing there friends, Amelia and Kirsty, with who is who. Eaton is thriving at pre-school.

The Periwinkle Family

Father Alex and Mother Kate lives in Cedar Terrace 2 together with their 3 children. Oliver, Rebecca and Hannah. Business is thriving and life is good, except for one small problem, Mabel Periwinkle. Alex loves his mother and father dearly and is happy that they finally move to Sugarbush Valley, but poor Kate is not as thrilled, as Mabel is taking over the household and telling Kate exactly how to run it. Oliver loves having his grandfather around, who is giving him helpful tennis tips. Mack and Mabel also has a daughter, named Blanka. Blanka is currently travelling the world and might soon or maybe never show up in Sugarbush Valley.

The Mulberry Family

For father Elmar it is fantastic to have his older brother, Edward around. Together they reminisce over their younger days in Sugarbush Valley. Edward regrets it that he ever moved away to Oxbridgeshire, and hopes in his heart that one day his daughter Martha will join him here. As their father, the three Mulberry children are just as happy that Uncle Ed (as they call him) is living near them now, he makes the most wonderful toys for them and can entertain them for hours in the garden of the Log Cabin.

The Chiffon Family

The Chiffon family of 6 lives in Cedar Terrace 6, together with the Chantilly Family. Delia is excited about the new school year as she just got a new Nursery, and Gordon can't wait to teach his classes again too. Obviously Karen and David is not as excited. The twins are oblivious to the feelings around them, they just want to play. Delia has a sister Grace Doughty who lives in Rooibosch Hill. They spent their summer holiday there and just returned from a wonderful vacation.

The Chocolate Family

As with everyone that moves to Sugarbush Valley, the Chocolate family have also adjusted superbly to village life. Even Freya is enjoying it and has made a best friend in Candy Mulberry, but she still misses her cousin, Luna Loffel, who is the daughter of her Mother's sister, and writes her everyday. The Loffel Family now resides in the village of Marigold Creek, which their great great grandfather discovered in 1815.

The Fielding Family

The Fielding family of five lives above their beloved Restaurant in a small, but cosy apartment. To them village life is great, as they are very shy critters the size of the village means they don't have to deal with to many strangers every day. Secretly Darcy still misses Mystique Valley from where they moved many years ago when Daniel was a little baby, but this he keeps to himself as he can see that Bridget is truly happy.

Hope you had a nice read and I could help to pass the time. Do visit my family page for the complete bio of each family.

Sugarbush Valley Commune

This past weekend I had time to finish the 3rd floor of the Sugarbush Valley Commune. And how relieved am I that it is finally finished. I'm not crafty at all even cutting a box to size and gluing it is a huge challenge for me.

I constructed the Commune out of boxes. I used the ones in which reams of paper are packed. I cut it to size and used the off cuts to make the walls. I glued it in place with SUPER GLUE, as I found that normal glue just didn't do the trick. Wallpapering was easy as there is no funny nooks and crannies to measure around. The cutting of the windows was however a nightmare (remember I have 10 thumbs). I found that the wallpaper also hold the walls in place.

All that was left to do then was the flooring, for which I used felt for carpets or printed dc fix (lack of a better word). Then the fun part started, to decorate it with furniture and small items. I tried to personalise each room according to the family's work and just to ad a bit of diversity.

I decided to do a quick photo blog of the finished project.

Obviously the Commune is always bustling with activity.

On a typical morning what is everyone up to ... Lets see!

The Farthings are getting ready for school, but first very serious stories must be told.

The only room where there is some sort of peace ... Bobby is enjoying a strong cup of coffee before he starts his day.

Looking well groomed is important to Camilla, she is thankful that Isabella can entertain the babies while she gets ready.

Schroeder is about to get dressed for work and Isabel is relieved that at least three of her children is ready for the day, now if Eddie will just sit still.

It is Jenna's turn to help her dad to make the beds and tidy the room.

Taylor is having a hard time waking up ... he actually fell asleep again after he dressed Burl.

The Hunter-Smyth men are occupying the bathroom, at least no one else is waiting in line.

Chester and Willow appreciates the few minutes they have to get ready.

Great and Kenneth is entertaining little Alfie while Emma makes the bed. Alfie just loves his rocking horse.

As the town planner Sydney is already hard at work and Otto quickly does some last minute homework.

Down in the kitchen everyone is waiting their turn to get breakfast, and like his pal Geo is also catching up on some homework.

Do tell me what you think. The Commune will hopefully be a source of many future stories.

A new school year

Delia Chiffon was busy putting the last things into place for the start of the new school year the following day. They have returned from a lovely vacation with their family, the Doughtys, in Rooibosch Hill the previous day and she is truly excited to begin the year. Not only because she has this fantastic new nursery where she can teach the little ones, but also to meet the new learners.

She went over to her desk and picked up the list. All of the names were familiar, many of them have been in her school the previous year, but she is glad to see a few new names as well
  • Jeremy and Stephani Whiskers - new
  • Eaton Blackberry - new
  • JC Maces - new
  • Cora Corntop
  • Cheddar Buttercup - new
  • Creme Chocolate
  • Clop Fielding
  • Lumy Honeybear
  • Lindy Slydale
  • Carrie Renard
  • Hunter-Smyth triplets
  • Lavender Bouquet
  • Jocelyn Chantily
  • Cali Robinson
  • Skimble Macavity
  • Comfrey Cottontail
  • Rally Farthing - new
  • Bobo and Bubbles Darwin - new

Delia was relieved that both Daisy and Betty have finally decided to send their two boys to pre-school as they have actually been old enough to attend it the previous year. But both ladies are still a bit conservative in their doings and wanted to keep their "babies" at home for as long as possible. She did however also notice that the Puddleford triplets will again not attend nursery school. She was very worried about those three. Unlike Burl's mother, Rose, who does home schooling with a very strict routine, Beth is not as diligent and they will already be turning 5 later that year.

The only unfamiliar names were Rally Farthing and twins, Bobo and Bubbles Darwin. Both the Farthings and Darwins have moved to the village during the holidays. She haven't met the Darwins but she has briefly spoken with Rally's mother, Penny. Penny will be opening a day care in the village for new born to 2-year olds, which is a big relieve to Delia. This means that her load will be lightened a bit and that she can concentrate on teaching and not just changing diapers. The previous year she had a few babies at the nursery and that was hard work. Delia felt many days that she is doing the bigger kids in, by giving to much attention to the babies.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the twins, who came with her to the nursery. Austin wanted something to drink and she wanted to change Nigella's diaper. This was done within a wink of an eye, after this Delia decided that she might just as well leave. The twins was getting tired and maybe if she goes home now, they will fall asleep in the stroller.

Just as she was about to leave there was a knock on the door. It was Andy and Bethanie Woodbrook. Delia greeted them friendly and invited them in.
Delia: Welcome to our nursery.
Andy: Thank you , wow, it is a wonderful place.
Bethanie: Hi Delia, I must admit you did a great job, the children will love it here.
Delia: Thank you, is there something I can help. Do you want to enroll little Marcus.

Bethanie and Andy were taken aback by the fact that Delia knew Marcus' name, and this made them even more uncomfortable.
Andy (apologetic): Uhm ... you see Delia ... uhm... that is precisely the thing.
Bethanie: I think what Andy wants to say is that we have decided to still keep Marcus at home this year, but now we are starting to doubt ourselves and just wanted to get a second opinion and who better to speak to then the nursery teacher.
Andy: We were thinking of speaking to Hatty, but I'm not sure if we would've gotten an honest opinion.
Delia: Yes, ok. I think I understand what you mean, but tell me first why have you decided to still keep him at home?

Bethanie (shyly): Well, tuition fees plays a big part, but also he only just turned 3 and I really feel he is still a bit young. He will probably be fine after a month or two, but I truly believe he is not ready yet.
Delia: Trust your motherly instincts Bethanie and never doubt them. Tell me, what are you doing at home to stimulate him, do you have a routine?
Bethanie: I only started with a more structured day about 3 months ago, but I try to have the same routine everyday, which usually entails breakfast, free play, singing and dancing, arts and crafts, where we make something and he usually loves this. Then it is usually time for me to help Andy with the crop. After this it is lunch and nap time, and when he wake up I try to have him sit down for another half an hour so of "learning", he is then usually awarded with stories, based on how well he mastered the task and then it is time again for me to attend to the household.

Andy: I just want to chip in here and tell you that Bethanie does great with Marcus, I am really proud of what he has already achieved, he knows all the colours, shapes and can count to 5, meaning he knows how much 5 is and he recognises them all.
Delia: Really? That is great work Bethanie! Well, yes, it is expected of me to encourage all children from 3 year old to attend pre-school, but I'm not too rigid. The way you are handling Marcus is fine and I can see no reason why he can't stay at home for a while longer, maybe another 6 months?
Bethanie: That is great news, thank you!

The Woodbrooks left the nursery and though sad that Marcus will not be attending, she was glad that she could put their minds at ease. Delia bundled the twins into the stroller and locked up. As predicted she haven't walked 10 meters yet, when the twins have fell asleep.

Delia made a decision to not go straight home, it was a sunny but still coolish day and the fresh air would do the twins good, so she decided to stroll through the village. When she passed the toyshop she decided to go in. The shop opened while they were away on holiday and she was very curious how it looked.

The shop was bustling with shoppers and Delia greeted everyone friendly. She had a quick chat with Marqaux and Innes, congratulating them on the new venture. Delia took great care in looking around and was truly surprised with all the merchandise. She was in two minds, she desperately wanted to bring her children to the shop, but knew she will probably spend all her months earnings in one go.

As she turned around to look at the play area she bumped into a Monkey.
Delia: Oh sorry, I am truly sorry.
Shirley: Never you mind. It is just as much my fault.
Delia: I am Delia Chiffon.
Shirley: I am Shirley Darwin, am I correct in assuming that you are the nursery teacher?
Delia: Yes you are right, will you be enrolling any of your children?
Shirley: For sure. Katie and Simon will attend Mr Chiffon's class and the twins will start at your nursery tomorrow. They are over there on the play mat.

Delia turned around to have a look at the two, but was immediately concerned. Those two were definitely not 3-years old, it was even unclear if they were two. How is she going to break the news, she can't take them in, without offending Penny, and that is the last thing she wanted to do.

Delia (cautiously): Shirley, please don't take this the wrong way, but how old are they.
Shirley: They will be turning two this year, why?
Delia: Oh my, how shall I say ... my pre-school is only for 3-year olds and older. Mrs Penny Farthing will be opening a daycare centre for children younger than that.
Shirley: What? No! Really? This is terrible, what will happen to my babies now?
Geoff: Oh dear, what a disaster. We are so sorry for the mistake we've made. Shirley don't worry, I'll manage business you can look after the babies till we find a spot.
Delia: Oh no please, don't apologise. This is not so bad, I already have a solution.

Delia quickly put Geoff and Shirley's mind at ease by telling them about Penny's daycare. She also suggested that she and Shirley must quickly visit Penny to sort out the confusion, before the first day of school tomorrow. Geoff offered to take care of the twins while the two ladies visit Mrs Farthing.

As it was getting late Delia and Shirley wasted no time and quickly made their way to the Commune where the Farthings lived. On the way, they did however bumped into Delia's husband and her two older kids.
Delia: Gordon! Children! Where are you off to? I'm just quickly taking Mrs Darwin here, to Penny at the Commune.
Gordon: Oh Delia, these two drove me crazy this afternoon. As always they were fighting about anything and everything. Finally I decided that we must organise their stuff for school tomorrow, then you don't have to do it tonight and then we can see what they need, before the shops closed. And as it turned out David has no pens and Karen has somehow lost her note book!

Delia: That is impossible, have you looked everywhere? I've bought all their stationery for the new year at the end of last year before we went on holiday?
David (rolling his eyes): I know mommy, but my dear sister used her note book for writing her best seller and obviously she used all my pens as well. We've looked everywhere.
Gordon: Don't worry dear, I'm on my way to the Country Market now to get what they need. We'll see you at home.
Delia: Ok, but I'm not happy, Karen. See you later.

The commune where luckily not far and they quickly reached it. They met the Hawton family in the kitchen, who were obviously preparing for their first school luncheon the next day. After all the introductions were made, Delia inquired about the Farthings and if they knew where there room were and if Penny were in. Hildie directed them to the room and ensured them that Penny were home.

After an exhausting climb up all the stairs they reached the room. As most of the parents in the village Penny was busy with school preparations too.
Delia: Hey Penny, sorry to bother you, but do you have time for a quick chat? This is Mrs Darwin.
Penny: Sure, I'm just convincing little Rally that your school will be fun. Hey Mrs Darwin, good to meet you.
Shirley: Oh please call me Shirley.

Delia quickly explained the reason for their visit to Penny. Penny listened carefully, and afterwards ensured Shirley that the twins are more than welcome at her Daycare. Shirley looked relieved and thanked both Delia and Penny for being so kind, understanding and helpful.

Shirley and Penny got talking and Delia soon realised that she was not needed anymore. She wished both ladies luck with their first school day tomorrow and ensured them again that everything will be allright. She excused herself and rushed home. By now the twins were wide awake and getting restless. They were tired of being bundled up in the stroller for so long.

That evening at home, when all the children were in bed and the grown ups enjoyed some tea, Delia relayed her day to her husband and friends. They were happy all worked out well and the rest of the evening was spent talking about the new school year and what it might bring.

New profile pictures and updated bio's for the Trunk, Henry-Lloyd, Corntop, Whiskers, Maces and Buttercup Families

A quick Friday morning blog, just to make myself feel better and less guilty for being so absent. I think the biggest reason for my "blog" absence is that I have so many things that I would like to do SF wise that I am totally overwhelmed.

I have at least 5 new stories I want to write, I have a few decorating projects that I have to complete, I want to update my family profile pictures and family biographies and then I also want to try my hand at some DIY furniture... but then real life happened and rather than using the half an hour I have over a weekend for my hobby I just sat and sulk and did nothing. The thing is that I had my birthday when we were on holiday and when we returned, everyone was hinting for a celebration party.

Now as many of you might know, not all friends and family always "gel" and get along, so we had to have 3 (mini) parties to accommodate everyone. It was exhausting, but at least it is over and done for another year, and I got very nice gifts.

I did however had some time during the week to take a few pictures, so without further ado (and moaning) lets do this!

I decided to take new pictures of most of my families. For this blog I will feature the first five families I got, well 6 to be precise, but I'm still happy with the profile picture of the Whiskers so I will just update their bio. The aim is to do this at least once a week until all pictures and bio's are updated.

The Trunk Family

The Trunk family has seven members, Hugo and Savannah as the parents and then their 5 children. Hugo co-owns a lumberyard with his siblings, but is also the mayor of the village. Apart from being the mayor's wife and a full time mother, Savannah is also a freelance writer. Savannah has a sister in Whisper Wood, Ella Ellwood. The Trunks live in Beechwood Hall.

The Henry-Lloyd Family

The Henry-Lloyds have settled nicely into the village and do not regret their decision to move to Sugarbush Valley. They family of 6 live in Cedar Terrace 1.

The Corntop Family

Things are finally looking better for the Corntop Family. The deli is open for business, and Hector and Christabel plans a grand opening soon. The renovations of the little flat on top, Orchard Cottage, is taking more time than expected though. The kids are happy and even shy little Cora is enjoying the nursery.

The Whiskers Family
(old picture)

Father Sebastiaan doesn't regret selling his business for one day, as the Florist is b(l)ooming and he is much less stressed. Katrina appreciates Sebastiaan's input and is unsure how she ever managed without him. The Whiskers live in Meadowcroft Cottage 1.

Katrina's brother, Michael Calico, lives in Mystique Valley. They visit him often and Amelia misses her cousin, Margot, very much.

The Buttercup Family

Things on Highfields farm are as splendid as ever and the Buttercups are loving life. After her little house renovating project Daisy is a much more pleasant wife too, and Hornbull can take his leisurely strolls uninterrupted again.

Daisy's bother, Gabriel Hornigold, will soon be visiting them form Marigold Creek, and her days are spent making Garbriel's favorite flavours of ice cream.

The Maces Family

Although they do not originate from Sugarbush Valley, both Spencer and Arvey feel as if they belong in Sugarbush Valley and it is difficult to believe that they once lived in Grinpa. Business is good at the Country Market and Arvey loves their small little (Applewood Cottage) flat on top of the shop

Just like his brother Cecil Maces, who lives in Marigold Creek, Spencer is enjoying the slow living of Sugarbush Valley.

That is it for this week then, hope you enjoyed the updates and the new pictures. Please visit my blog for the full biographies of all my families.

Three new families move to Sugarbush Valley

Farthing Dog Family
(bought this lovely family from Takealot and Reggies respectively)

Father: Harley Farthing
Mother: Penny Farthing
Sister: Wren Farthing (10)
Baby Brother: Rally Farthing (4)

Father Harley was a world famous surfer. He won the world championships 6 times during his career. While he was riding the last wave at his 6th World Championships, he had the most unfortunate accident. He fell from his surfboard and broke both his legs and arms. Although he was still crowned world champion again that year, his broken bones never healed completely, and he could never ride as a professional surfer again. He was thus forced into early retirement. Although to young to "retire" he qualified as a life saver and swimming instructor. He obtained valuable experience on some of the world's most famous beaches.

Eventually he got bored with the unfamiliarity of this lifestyle and to his wife’s, Penny, relief they decided to settle in Sugarbush Valley, from where Penny originates. Father Harley got a job as the life saver and swimming coach at the local Sugarbush Valley swimming pool, Mother Penny runs a day care centre for all babies to the age of 2.

They have two children, the 10 year old Wren who is extremely shy and very attached to her mother. Her parents hope that she will meet a special friend soon, who will help her to be more outgoing. Little boy Rally, who is only 4, is very wise for his age and often tells his mother and father exactly how they ought to do things.

Darwin Monkey Family
(bought this family from a fellow friend and collector, Santie. The twins were a gift from her)

Father: Geoff Darwin
Mother: Shirley Darwin
Sister: Katie Darwin (10)
Brother: Simon Darwin (9)
Twins: Bubbles & Bobo (1)

Father Geoff runs the Sweets cart and popcorn wagon with his wife Shirley. He loves to treat the children, and leaves free candy on the counter everyday. It does however sometimes end up in a bit of a scuffle as the children just love to get their hands on the free yummy sweets.

Shirley loves creating new candy flavors, and spend hours in her kitchen mixing delicious ingredients together like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and cherries. She makes the best gift baskets filled with pecan caramel clusters, chocolate covered almonds and dark chocolate truffles. But like her husband she is very fond of children and loves to help them choose their favorite sweets.

Sister Katie is always on the go. She wants to be a professional gymnast when she grows up. After she has done her homework, she practices her cartwheels, handstands, and back flips for hours. Her routines are incredible, and when others see her skills, they are amazed at how talented she is!

Brother Simon is the opposite of his sister and is very calm and artistic. He likes to sit quietly and draw and paint pictures of outdoor sceneries. His favorite paintings are of the beautiful sunsets above the pond outside his window. Dew to his introverted nature he struggles to make friends, which isn’t helped by the fact the all his classmates are girls.

Twins Bubbles and Bobo like to help clean up after their parents, licking the chocolate covered spoons and bowls. Shirley, their mother, is sure more chocolate and candy is put on their clothes than in their tummies, though!

Decker Dalmatian Dog Family
(Trade with a fellow friend and collector, Sigrun)

Father: Brooklyn Decker
Mother: Kaitlin Decker
Triplets: Lucas, Brooke and Morgan Decker (1)

Brooklyn is a qualified banker but has had enough of the rat race of the city and after much discussion with his wife Kaitlin decided to quit his job and relocate to Sugarbush Valley. It is their dream to open a seafood restaurant on the banks of the river. Just like his nephew, Ben Henry-Lloyds, he loves fishing and sailing, and if at all possible he would like to literally catch the “catch-of-the-day” himself. But for now Brooklyn and his family will first enjoy a vacation in their new town.

Kaitlin is extremely sociable and though she will miss all her friends and the book club meetings, she loves the quaintness of the little village and has already made a friend in Margaret Petite.

The couple has 1-year old triplets, who are both adorable and are no trouble at all. They are very, very quiet. All they seem to do is eat and sleep, sleep and eat, which suits Kaitlin perfectly as this mean even more time for socializing.
